Having risen from bed, clothed and groomed, stand before the Icon or the Cross and, collecting your thoughts and crossing yourself, say with piety and fear of God:

In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Then stand in silence a short while until your feelings  have calmed down, then bow three times, saying:

O Lord, Jesus Christ, the Son of God, through the prayers of Your most pure Mother and all the saints have mercy upon us.
